When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist

My grandparents have had a lot of problems with their eyes and witnessing how their optometrist was able to help preserve their vision so that they could continue doing things they enjoy helped motivate me to pursue a career where I could do the same for others.

Favorite part of being an optometrist

I thoroughly enjoy being able to help people. Whether it is prescribing a child their first pair of glasses so that they are successful in school or managing someone's ocular disease to prevent blindness, it is incredibly rewarding to help each person enjoy the gift of sight.

Favorite vacation

I love the beach and traveling anywhere new.

Favorite concert you’ve been to

Foo Fighters in October 2015. Frontman Dave Grohl had just broken his leg by falling off the stage on tour a little while earlier so he had a custom chair built so that he could still move all over the stage while playing. The Foo Fighters always put on a great show but the extra energy they brought to make the best out of what could have been a cancelled tour was a lot of fun.

Do you have any pets?

I have a yellow lab, Murphy, who constantly keeps my wife and I entertained with his goofy antics.

Fun fact

I am a big sports fan and cheer on the Tar Heels, Carolina Panthers, and Carolina Hurricanes. I also enjoy exploring National Parks (Yosemite and the Grand Canyon are my favorites so far).
