Get to know Dr. Vikarma Brooks, O.D.

When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist

I have always liked the healthcare industry and wanted to work in it.  I began my career working for a pharmaceutical company.  After a while, I decided I wanted to get more directly involved in patient care and felt like optometry was a good fit for me.

Favorite part of being an optometrist

I really enjoy learning about the new advancements in the eye care field and then implementing those in practice to benefit my patients.

Favorite vacation

My favorite destination for vacation time is the outdoors.  Specifically, the mountains and woods.  It reminds me of the beautiful world that we live in and I find it peaceful.

Favorite concert you’ve been to

I think may favorite concert would have to be seeing Ben Rector in 2018.  They put on a good show that really energized the crowd.  Ben even got out into the audience for a bit!

Do you have any pets?

We have a german shepherd named Luna whom we absolutely adore.

Fun fact

Dr. Brooks traces half of his heritage back to a small island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius.  His other half is likely from European origin.
