Dr. Sara Toomey, O.D.
Dr. Sara Toomey, a Florida native, moved to North Carolina in 2021 to join the Triangle Visions Optometry team.
After graduating from the University of Florida in 2013 (Go Gators!), she went on to complete her doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University, and then a residency in Ocular Disease at The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami. She enjoys time spent with family in her new home of Charlotte, North Carolina.

When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist
When my Bachelors in English didn’t seem like a promising career choice... Kidding! During my internship at the Veterans Affairs Optometry Clinic in Gainesville, FL I was inspired by the role of Optometry in treating the patient from a holistic approach. The eyes are truly a reflection of a patient's overall health.
Favorite vacation
Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida. Trust me on this one!
Favorite concert you’ve been to
A 90’s cover music dance party in NYC. Nothing like singing along to old Blink182 hits with a crowd of people!
Do you have any pets?
A Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (aka Toller), named Covey (like Lovey). I know, it’s a mouthful, but she’s REAL cute.
Fun fact
My boyfriend, Daniel, and I were dating long distance in Florida and recently uprooted our lives to move to North Carolina and start our own adventure! All food and activity recommendations are welcome :)
